The art of being able to force something upon an unknowing spectator is something that is highly useful and if executed correctly the performer has an immediate advantage over his/her audience.
However because he/she has this advantage of already knowing what the spectator thinks he/she doesn’t know, presentation becomes key to the effect. So many times have I seen a performer force something such as a card on a spectator, only to reveal it in what I would consider to be the wrong way. The spectator immediately picks up on this and the effect has been ruined due to the fact that the performer did not plan and think about the best way to present that trick.
That is why although the method to Emotion Impossible is simple in theory if it is not presented in the correct way you will not achieve the results you want. A lot of this manuscript will therefore discuss presentation.
