Chapter 1: Chaos Prediction
Dani DaOrtiz is back with another course in the impossible. Welcome to The Chaos Project. This a one-year course in which you learn to harness the powers of chaos in your card magic to make the impossible a part of your everyday magic. Now set up in easy-to-follow chapters of The What, The How, and The Why, learning the magic of Dani DaOrtiz is even easier than ever before.
The What
A prediction is written on a slip of paper which is folded up and placed on the table. A deck of cards is given to a spectator. The magician tells the audience to do their best to mess him up, but they won’t be able to because the magician is so lucky. The deck is divided into two halves and handed out for the spectators to shuffle. One of the spectators is asked to think of a number between one and fifteen. The cards from the packet this spectator is holding are shown to the spectator, and the spectator remembers the card in the position of the number they thought of. This spectator then moves the number of cards they are thinking of from the top of their packet to the bottom and then deals their cards out into three packets in any order and is given the opportunity to shuffle this packet at any time they want. The packets are gathered up in any order into a single pile and spread on the table. The prediction is opened, and a number revealed. That number of cards is counted down, and impossibly, the thought of card is found in the predicted location.
The How
Right off the top of the lesson, Dani gives you an immediate explanation of how the featured effect works. You’ll get all the necessary information for you to start practicing this amazing effect. In the first chapter, you’ll learn how to take a borrowed shuffled deck in use, and even if it’s missing a handful of cards, you can perform a powerful miracle. You’ll also learn how to cleverly use a prediction system that your audience won’t see coming.
The Why
Once you’ve learned the secrets, Dani teaches you the real work. The psychology and theory of chaos are as important to learn as the moves. In this first lesson, Dani will walk you through the secret of planting chaos in the mind of your spectator so that you have total control over your performing environment. You’ll also learn the importance of cutting through the chaos with a clear message so your audience can easily identify the trick. Lastly, Dani will take you through the process of closing doors. Presenting false solutions to your spectators so that you can then use the chaos to make your effects truly impossible.
