Bill Montana – Almost Forgotten- Ideas for Mentalism 2
These treasures have been reworked to bring them into the 21st century! Included in this volume are the following effects:
The Mystic Eye
The performer displays a set of cards with numbers on them and also points out that some of the cards bear a symbol for the mystic eye. These cards are handed to a spectator for further examination and use in the experiment. The spectator is asked to mix up the cards… (turning any of them over at his/her discretion). The choice is entirely in the hands of the spectator. The performer turns around while this is being done and remains with back turned throughout the effect. Once the spectator is satisfied, the cards are laid upon the table. The side facing up is decided by the spectator. The cards are then spread out in a row. The performer says…”there is a least one mystic eye symbol face up on the table I see!” “Yes”, the spectator says. The performer then asks how many mystic eyes are showing? After he/she answers, they are instructed to add the numbers on the cards together. Once this is done the performer asks if they have arrived at a number. Yes. The spectator is instructed to pick up all the cards, mix them, and place them into his/her pocket for safe keeping. The performer asks the spectator to think of their number. Then the performer reveals the correct number chosen by the spectator.
The Alphabet Test
The spectator is asked to think of any letter from the alphabet. Ten handwritten cards are shown to the audience. Upon each card is 15 or 16 letters. The spectator is asked to look at the cards one at a time and place the card face down on the table if it contains his or her thought of letter. As soon as the last card is laid upon the table, the mentalist names the thought of letter.
Preference
Two cards with a complete deck of playing cards -(including Jokers and Score Card)- are shown. A card is mentally selected and two strips are used to cover the two columns which contain the selected card. The performer takes a quick look and names the mentally selected card that was thought of by the spectator moments before.
Professor Andreens Marvelous Memory Stunt -1913Â The performer has apparently memorized hundreds of numbers running into the hundred of thousands.
The Mystic 48
The spectator is to think of a number from 1 to 48. He or she is then handed the three punched cards and instructed to return them, one at a time, telling which section contains his number. Upon giving you the last card, you are able to tell them their number.
