MAX MAVEN’S BLACKPOOL LECTURE NOTES
When Max Maven lectured at the recent Blackpool Convention, the room was completely jammed, and the response was overwhelmingly enthusiastic.
Exclusive to Penguin, while supplies last, these notes cover all of the material taught by Max that day, plus bonus material. The contents, in brief:
Centrifugal ESP – Using just a standard pack of 25 ESP symbol cards, and an exceedingly fair hands-off procedure, the spectator selects a group of five assorted designs. The performer’s back is turned, and yet he is able to identify every one correctly.
Drop Contrast – A normal deck is shuffled by a spectator. One odd-backed card is inserted into the pack. The performer deals through the face-up cards, until the spectator says stop. The stopped-at card is seen to be the only one with the contrasting back.
Precoinition – The performer displays a box containing coins from around the world. A participant decides on any coin, and that is the very one predicted by the performer. It’s that straightforward, and that astonishing.
Custom-Tailored – Lots of participation in this routine of card mentalism, which uses only a legitimate deck of playing cards. There are four successful predictions, based on the choices of members of the audience. This new and previously unpublished version involves as many as eleven people!
Thinker – A large prediction is given to a front-row audience member to hold. Six jumbo cards bearing six geometric designs are shown. One is freely chosen by a spectator, and yes, it’s the very one on the prediction paper. Strong, to the point, and no one needs to come up on stage, which makes this a great opener.
