The magic in this book focuses on the use of the card case.
Many magically minded people seem to forget that they are magicians, and in a spectator’s eyes are meant to be able to do anything. On many occasions someone, upon discovering what my interest lies in, will say something like, “Great! Make this vanish then,” handing me a watch or some such object. With this in mind, why not make it seem that we, as magicians, can use everything at our disposal to entertain?
This is where your humble card cases come into the frame. Why bother just using them to carry cards, when you can create magic that will be imprinted in an audiences mind?
The effects within are ideal for opening routines designed as they are to be simple yet powerful.
However, this does not mean that you should read one of these effects, and rush out to start performing it. In their introduction to ‘Magic With Cards,’ Frank Garcia and George Schindler rightly wrote, “Without entertainment, magic is a puzzle.” How true! It is pointless performing a newly learned effect as quickly as possible, without putting your own effort and performing skills into it.
Although the methods themselves are easy and do not involve complicated sleights, they should still be well practiced.
