This is Marc Paul’s lecture notes, it is not a book. At today’s exchange rate the cost is almost $40. This is a disturbing trend in lecture note pricing as notes are now more expensive than best selling hardcover books. They were originally a way for a lecturer to increase his profit from a lecture while keeping his fee low. Now we can order lecture notes over the web, never having seen the lecture, and pay a steep price.
That said, if you are a looking for killer mental effects, buy these notes. You won’t be disappointed. Like most mentalism you won’t necessarily learn any new moves or methods, but the routines and subtleties disclosed here are worth your investment.
Marc’s Anytime, Anyplace, Any Book. Book Test is just that. Someone hands you a paperback book that you have never seen before, you riffle through the pages and give them a free choice of where to stop, they look at a word and you tell them what it is. It’s that simple and that clean. You’ll stop carrying gimmicked books with you, you’ll sell them on eBay or keep them for posterity, but you’ll do this effect. It is that clean and that simple. As Marc says, he can’t believe it hasn’t been done before. I can’t either but have never seen it. It is really good.
A Coin in the Hand is best worked one on one, or maybe for a small group. You borrow a coin and put both hands behind your back, then bring them back in front of you and they guess which hand the coin is in. This is done three times. At the end you have predicted how many times they would be correct, and the date of the borrowed coin. Clever method, effective routine.
Direct Thought Projection involves four spectators and 4 cards with instructions on them. You are able to read each spectators mind, knowing who has which card and what they are thinking of. Packs flat, plays big, comes with masters of the cards that can be copied and cut out.
So You Can Read Minds.Prove It! This is Marc’s presentation of TA Waters astrology anagrams, preferably done over the phone. Credit to TA is provided, all Marc adds is a reason to do it on the phone.
The Question has a spectator place a 5, 10, 20 and 50 pound (or dollar) bill in different pockets, you then deduce which bill is where. This requires some arts and crafts work on your part, but the effect is worth the investment. As long as the spectator follows your directions you have an effective routine.
The Ideal Tossed Out Deck will not be of any value to you unless you own a Mastermind or Montecristo deck. This is Marc’s handling of this deck in a Tossed Out Deck routine.
The “AAA” Mind Reading Routine is a description of a 30 minute mental act you can carry in your pocket. Not all routines are described, but if you are trying to put something like this together (and I believe anyone claiming to be a mentalist should be able to do a short routine Anytime, Anyplace, Anywhere (“AAA”) ) the effects described will be a big help in defining what’s in your wallet.
The Human Pack of Cards is a card trick that involves the entire audience, one person on stage, and doesn’t use a real card until the climax. Everyone Think of a Number involves the entire audience and a paper ball and is not 100% but when you miss it still provides a nice segue to your next effect. Pick A Person, Any Person also involves thrown out paper balls and is an effective method for getting a specific person on stage. Giant Card Mind Reading involves five spectators, a giant deck of cards. This is based on Larry Becker/Lee Earle principles and again packs flat and plays big. Finally, Marc Paul’s Prediction Ending for Telemental is just that, and if you don’t have Telemental you won’t have a clue what he is talking about.
Again, I feel this is very pricey for what you receive, but the information provided justifies the price. Recommended.
